ISI has long recommended two major products: Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition and Veritas Backup Exec. Both products are leaders in their markets, and with the recent merger of Symantec and Veritas, these two excellent companies will surely begin to produce even more value to SMB's.

Symantec has been providing the best corporate anti-virus solution available for many years with the Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition product. We have had such great success with this product that we have installed this product for every single one of our clients.

Symantec's latest version of this product, 10.0 has introduced spyware protection, an absolutely essential feature that every network should have. Spyware causes far more damage than viruses, and can be so utterly frustrating to deal with that many users simply throw away their computers and replace them rather than deal with the issue. As you might guess, we urge all of our clients to make this important upgrade.

Recently re-branded a Symantec product, Veritas Backup Exec provides best of breed backup and recovery solutions essential to any organization. Their new 10.0 product introduces some vital new features essential for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 servers, and also provides some long-time features such as instant notification of backup jobs and errors.

Note: ISI recommends that all customers upgrade to Windows Server 2003 to utilize the fantastic new Shadow Copy Services feature. This feature allows the server to take disk "snapshots" of the server twice daily, making the retrieval of earlier versions of files that have been deleted or modified instant and painless. However, we recommend that clients continue to use Veritas for off-site data protection or utilize some type of instant data replication technology (also available in-house).
