IP infrastructure provides the Layer 2 and Layer 3 logic and communication capability between all the separate components via the Interoperability Protocol (IP).  Once IP is made available to the organization it can then be used to connect each and every type of device within the organization using standard Ethernet connections. As the Internet also runs via IP both local and remote users are seamlessly connected to all the internal systems of the organization regardless of location while preserving all of the benefits of the ISI Stack.

Switching - Provides physical and logical switched path connections between devices throughout the network.  Unified networks require at a minimum full Layer 3 capability Quality of Service, and Power over Ethernet. Routers / Firewalls - Provides secure access to all the various external networks the organization interfaces with, including but not limited to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephony Network), the Internet, and EDI sources.  Ideally, these devices are able to provide full Anti-X capabilities to the network (anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, anti-phishing, intrusion detection and prevention, etc.)  ISI recommends, resells, and installs routers and firewalls manufactured by Cisco Systems, Inc. and Watchguard.

Structured Wireless - The aim of wireless is to extend the benefits of the ISI Stack to all devices via wireless connections while retaining the manageability, scalability, and security of the wired network. Structured wireless solutions eclipse the 1st generation unstructured wireless solutions available through the use of a centralized controller that manages Lightweight Access Points (LAPs). ISI recommends, resells, and installs structured wireless solutions manufactured by Cisco Systems, Inc.
