Gulf Waters RV Park / Industrial Wireless Project
The Challenge:
The exploding number of baby-boomers retiring to a life
on the road has created some very unique challenges for
RV Park Owners as they strive to provide all the amenities
of an at-home lifestyle for mobile vacationers whenever
and wherever they like.
One of these amenities that has become almost ubiquitous
with residential technology is wireless internet. Gulf
Waters RV Park of Fort Myers, FL approached ISI for a cost-effective
solution that would stand up to the elements of hurricane-prone
coastal Florida.
The Solution:
ISI quickly sourced equipment with NEMA enclosures and
full 802.11 capability. This industrial, outdoor grade
equipment allows Gulf Waters to mount the radios outside
without having to worry about moisture or the environment,
as the radios are sealed in tough containers that can take
lots of abuse.
Not having fiber or cable spread throughout the entire
park also presented a problem, as most 802.11 solutions
require that network cable connect all the 802.11 radios
together. ISI implemented a complete wireless backbone,
thereby requiring only power at the point where each radio
was installed. This not only made installation a lot simpler,
but also cut down on a lot of the equipment and infrastructure
necessary to support a larger campus-sized network.
The solution has helped Gulf Waters RV park to become
one of the hottest RV parks in central Florida. According
to one of Gulf Water’s customers; “I love it.
I wish all the parks we visited had wireless like this…”
