Grand River Surgical: Managed Services
The Challenge:
Grand River Surgical, a small medical clinic specializing in gastroenterology,
has been helping patients all throughout West Michigan for many years.
Unfortunately for them, IT was getting
in the way of
providing care, as often times staff members were forced to wait long
periods of time for their medical application to process.
After assessing the situation, ISI developed a plan to move Grand River Surgical
from a traditional fat client / server infrastructure to a thin client / terminal
server infrastructure that would greatly enhance performance, lower costs,
and reduce complexity. ISI then wrapped up the entire migration with an easy
to understand, fixed rate monthly fee for maintaining the entire network.
The Solution:
After implementing a new Microsoft Terminal Server and a number of thin clients,
Grand River Surgical saw their application performance increase by a factor
of 10. "What used to take us 2 or 3 minutes takes absolutely no-time at all.
What else is great is we can move from one terminal to another without any discernible
difference. That's great for when the doctor needs to move from one room to
another" states Eryn Tucker, General Manager.
After implementing the solution, ISI created a managed services program specifically
tailored for Grand River Surgical. Again, Eryn Tucker: "We only have one bill
to deal with. If we ever need help with a problem, we just call ISI and get
immediate
service.
It's fantastic."
ISI also assisted Grand River Surgical with the roll-out of mobile tablets
in order to open, view, and manipulate x-rays while moving wirelessly between
exam rooms. States Dr. White "We don't have to run back and forth for X-rays
anymore, we just pull them up right on the tablet!"
